your site picture really stirs my heart. how can i contribute to the group? i can send u hundreds of local species- to restore biodiversity. but the more critical part of tree planting is the nurture and care within the next 3 years. the tree planting itself is fulfilling..but the nurturing is a different matter..and im sure this is part of d committee's action plans..im impressed and proud to be invited as a member.
here's a toast to more achievements!

Thank you very much for your support!

Like what we always tell our sponsors and volunteers, Forest Rehabilitation is
1% treeplanting and 99% monitoring and maintenance. Reforestation activities will never be successful if the maintenance/monitoring and preotection components are missing.

We're doing our best to achieve the monitoring part and we are also urging our government to fulfill its role in the genuine protection of the Sierra Madre. Without Forest Protection, all our efforts in planting trees will be in vain.

There are many issues to be resolved not just in the community level but also in the political level. The problems in Ipo is not just environmental in nature. It has also a socio-politico-economic color. We hope we can all help ech other to settle the problems. Let us remeber that the destruction of Ipo Watershed has not ceased yet. It is still ongoing as I type this message.

We are therefore calling all concerned citizens out there, community organizers, forestry experts, corporate sponsors, artists, media people and many more
to help in the rehabilitaion and protection of Ipo Watershed. It is here where our water comes from.

agree. i think it won't be bad if the government declares critical mountains such as sierra madre, magat, angat, as human hubaitat-free zones in favor of the millions who depend on the mountains for water. the mountain dwellers shd be addressed and be treated as unique problem. with not so many of them, but a force in destroying the forests, it will not take millions on the part of the govt to deal with the problem.
that is i think a more do-able solution to stop kaingin and to ensure that the trees planted are not harmed, and forests to remain untouched. a 5km ban zone (from the base of the mountain) for human settlements shd be in effect in mountains of critical importance.
has anyone thought of this? what shd be the problem?
i think what really makes our growth stagnant is not bec of the lack of talent, but the lack of political will to enforce the law, and enforce what shd be done.
that's what made singapore, japan, and malaysia prosperous, and what made it retain and preserve its forests.
